The calculator module 5 paper

Monday, June 04th, 2007 5:35pm

You know what was in your exam earlier today - I haven’t a clue!

Where there any questions on the following topics?

  • Pythagoras
  • Trigonometry
  • Areas of shapes
  • Volume questions
  • Anything to do with circles
  • Trial and improvement

If you can remember anything and you were doing the Modular Module 5 paper, just pop a comment on this post.

Those are topics that can crop up on the calculator paper, the one next Monday, but it is possible to have questions on the non-calculator paper (leave your answer in terms of Pi and so on).

There will be a revision session this Friday morning.

Good luck

Sunday, June 03rd, 2007 8:14pm

Good luck tomorrow!

  • Get parked and into College in good time
  • Look up your candidate number on the lists
  • Once you get the paper, read it all in the first 5 minutes or so
  • Make sure you get the early questions done, and the ‘part a’ and ‘part b’ bits of the harder ones
  • Ruler? Two pencils? Eraser? Compasses? Protractor? Two pens?

Extra GCSE Class

Friday, June 01st, 2007 8:17am

For those who are dropping in this morning, the extra lesson is still on!

I mention this because the electricity is going off on the Sutton campus for a few hours while they connect the new sports hall.

I’ve got my photocopying done already and it is a bright day so we should be OK!

Google analytics map

I know that 50 of you per day are visiting this site, almost all from the UK, and that you spend about 2 minutes each on the site, and look at 2.5 pages on each visit. 98% of the visits are from within the UK (lets hear it for the three of you in St Hellier, and the visitor in Dussledorf!).

Please click on the ‘Ask a question about this item’ link below and let us know who and where you are! You can also ask a question about the Maths.

My students - please ‘ask a question about this item’ as well!

Straight line graph reminder

Just a quick visual reminder of wht we discussed about the straight line graphs

Linear equations slide show

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 5:11pm

The slide show above isn’t a video. As you click through the slides, you will see worked examples of four types of linear equation, together with a few of each for you to try.

A multiple choice quiz will be up here before the next lesson!

Straight line graphs

Maths is Fun has a nice interactive straight line graph.

Have a play and see if you can work out what the M and B are for in the formula….

Trigonometry summary sheet

Sunday, April 29th, 2007 11:26am

Download a one side summary of the Trigonometry formulas we were talking about in the last lesson

A YouTube is on its way!

Pythagoras’ Result

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007 11:27am

The presentation I used in Friday’s lesson with a sound track. You will want to pause the video at various points to work out the answers to problems for yourself, the video presents the answers!

You will need a calculator with a square root button. Make sure you know how to find a square root on your particular calculator.

Constructions

Thursday, April 19th, 2007 3:42pm

On Module 5 you will need to draw ‘constructions’ with a ruler, compasses and pencil. Typical constructions include:

* Drawing a line perpendicular to another line at a given point
* Bisecting an angle

The YouTube presentations below have been provided by ‘capitalone’ who is a Maths teacher in a UK school. Quite a few teachers are putting stuff on YouTube now.
