Happy holdiay! New topic for new year!
The Winter Solstice (the instant when the Sun is at its lowest declination) occurs at 6:09 am on December the 22nd this year.
The YouTube above is me talking through my Probability slides. Use this to frighten your children and perhaps to revise some of the material.
The exercises mentioned as being in ‘Unit 19′ in the video are in Chapter 7 of the Access Module 1 book, on pages 63 and 65. You will want to pause the YouTube video to give yourself time to do the exercises!
Don’t worry about the second set of questions referred to at the end of the video. We will return to those kinds of problem in the second Module, when I will unleash Part 2 of this video.
If it was useful, pop a comment on here and I might do a few more. Just click where it says ‘ask a question about this item’ to comment or to ask a question!
Listen to a 10 minute maths lesson and see if it helps.
Some people are auditory learners, some are visual learners and some learn through moving.
I’m using this Web site to support Access Maths students this year.
Check back here for quizzes and links, and don’t forget to leave comments!
This post contains ‘one of each’ of the things I use on this blog, audio, YouTube of presentation with narration and a pure slide deck. Which one do you think works best? Answers please in the Ask the Experts forum, not here, as Helen and the others would like to join in!
Market Maths is an MP3 file describing simple proportional calculations. I pushed the boat out a little and used a digital sound recorder and microphone to record some ‘ambient’ background in Birmingham City markets. The mix was done using Audacity.
If you can access YouTube, then this talks you through tree diagrams.
Above is a Linear equations ’slideshare’ deck. No sound track, and you can click when you want to advance the slides. You can use OpenOffice to export PowerPoints as flash animations if you have firewall issues.
I’ll be thinking of you all as I wait for the removal van!
I’ll be off this site for a few days while they reconnect my broadband.
You know what was in your exam earlier today - I haven’t a clue!
Where there any questions on the following topics?
If you can remember anything and you were doing the Modular Module 5 paper, just pop a comment on this post.
Those are topics that can crop up on the calculator paper, the one next Monday, but it is possible to have questions on the non-calculator paper (leave your answer in terms of Pi and so on).
There will be a revision session this Friday morning.
For those who are dropping in this morning, the extra lesson is still on!
I mention this because the electricity is going off on the Sutton campus for a few hours while they connect the new sports hall.
I’ve got my photocopying done already and it is a bright day so we should be OK!
